The year has begun on a very high note for the tech titans as everyone seeks to assert their dominance in the AI race to the top.
The Apple-Google deal redefines AI competition, highlighting the strategic push to secure leadership in the field. On 12th Jan 2026
In its biggest AI move yet, Apple announced that it had signed a multi-year collaboration with Google, in which foundational
Apple intelligence models will run on Gemini. Apple hasn’t been extremely active in the AI scene, and this will provide a much needed boost in the release of future Apple products.
The joint statement stated that “After evaluation, we determined that Google’s technology provides the most capable
foundation model and we are excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for Apple users.”The statement also
stated that a more personalized Siri will be released this year and will include features powered by these models.
This collaboration signals Google’s prominent position in the AI race, emphasizing the importance of strong foundational
partnerships in maintaining a competitive advantage.
Google seems to have already caught up and is comfortable taking the lead and eventually dominating to the end. Details of
the deal are not yet out, however this may raise some concerns for the regulators on the legality side of things. For now its a
matter of wait and see what this collaboration brings. For the shareholders, this is a great moment for a big harvest as the
market responded positively to the news.
